Resveratrol’s miraculous promise

In 2003 a team of scientists from Harvard university came up with findings that a new product resveratrol was able to increase the lifespan of yeast. This was translated to mean that it could therefore be a potential ingredient in an anti-aging pill.
According to the lead researcher David Sinclair, resveratrol could activate a gene called sirtuin1. studies with resveratrol have shown a lot of good promise, with benefits such as anti-cancer effects, anti-inflammatory effects, cardiovascular benefits, energy endurance and many more.
The above were results from studies done on fruit flies, fish and worms. Human trials have been limited, especially due to funding. Even though a review by other scientists appears to agree with these statements there have sadly been no systematic clinical trials done with the pure compound and no data to that effect is available.
Clinical trials and studies are however underway by private companies and results are expected to be published soon. It is important that the studies are carried out systematically to make sure that the final product is safe for consumers and hence and extensive safety package should be in place.
One of the most appealing results is that the product is bio-available. This means it can be absorbed by the human body safely. This will be a very important product to have in the market. If it means that people can live longer and healthier hence happier lives, it will be a welcome product in the market.
